What is Systematic Kinesiology?

Kinesiology (pronounced Kin-eesy-ology) comes from the Greek word ‘kineses’ which means motion. Simply, it is the study of muscles and body movement. Systematic Kinesiology is a bio energetic feedback system that monitors muscle movement in order to ascertain information that will allow the practitioner use an appropriate technique to create a positive change.

Originally developed by an American chiropractor called Dr George Goodheart in the 1960's, Goodheart found that by testing muscles before and after he made a correction produced better results for his patients. Over time he was able to make a connection between various muscle groups and organs within the body and the related acupuncture points and their meridians.

Systematic Kinesiology works with the body as a whole, aiming to establish the root cause of any imbalances, rather than merely suppressing the symptoms. A natural, safe and holistic approach to health care, it enables a person to facilitate their body’s own healing system.

Over time if minor imbalances are not corrected they will accumulate and cause the body to create compensations. Compensations compound each other, which in turn lead to functional changes; these can create symptoms of discomfort, pain or maybe allergic reactions. If these warnings are ignored disease can follow.

Depending on the body's needs, the session may include the recommendation of nutritional supplements, Bach Flower Remedies, massaging of acupressure points or other corrective techniques to re-balance the body. You may also be given advice on healthy eating, exercise programmes and life-style changes, which will help maintain the positive changes that have taken place during your session.

In practice, although considerable relief may be gained from just one appointment, the positive effect will depend on the severity and the duration of the issue and whether the causes are removed. Kinesiology is most effective when properly spaced treatments are given, allowing the individuals body time to initiate its own healing process. Therefore to allow a client to reach a higher level of health, it may be necessary to have 2-4 sessions.

Many clients have recognised that Kinesiology may be used in a preventive manner rather than just dealing with problems as they arise. These clients choose to book regularly spaced Kinesiology sessions in order to maintain their health and well-being.
